Moosey-Moose Goes to Normandy, France

Hi Travel Buddies,

I'm off to Honfleur!

It's a little fishing village in Normandy.

I stayed 2 nights at a bed and breakfast. That's a house that's like a hotel and you are the guests of the people who live in the house. The hostess will serve you a yummy breakfast, too.
I had pancakes with homemade jam. The pancakes are super thin but super good! I ate lots of them. I lost count exactly how many.

After my big breakfast I helped out in the garden. They have apple trees and pear trees and pumpkins and other squashes. Fun times!
Next, I'll take a hike and go into the village to see the sites.
Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose and the Ancient Building on an Island - Part 2

Hi Travel Buddies,

This is me high up in Le Mont Saint Michel! Good thing I'm not afraid of heights.

On a clear day, like this one, you can see forever! I had to be careful because it got a little windy, and it was cold. See, I'm wearing my yellow sweater AND my t-shirt. Brrrrr.

This is the big iron gate that drops down to make a bridge into the village. Centuries ago the soldiers would draw the bridge up so enemies could not get inside the village. Remember, Mont Saint Michel is on an island.

This is the view at night. I don't think too many things are beautiful. But this building - it's BEAUTIFUL!

The next morning, sheep were grazing in the field that leads up to the island. These sheep are called mouton blanc. That's French for white sheep.
I hope you are enjoying my travels in France as much as me. Next, I'm off to a little fishing village.
Au Revoir,

Moosey-Moose and the Ancient Building on an Island

Hi Travel Buddies,

This is a view from my car, traveling down a highway in France on my way to Le Mont-St.-Michel.

As you can see, there are lots of signs and arrows pointing in all directions! It's a good thing I didn't get lost.

Finally! The building I've been waiting for. This is Le Mont-Saint-Michel. It's an ancient church that goes back in history hundreds of years. All the way back to the year 708! Wow, that's old.

The big building in the center is the church. Well, they called it an abbey. Around the abbey is the village.

This is what the main street in the village looks like today. Lots' of little shops that sell souvenirs. And restaurants and hotels, too. Hundreds of years ago there were businesses, too. Except they sold mostly useful stuff, like pots, pans, yarn, and candles.
Tomorrow I will post more pictures of the the inside of the abbey. Here is one website that tells you more about Le Mont-Saint-Michel: http://www.linkparis.com/mont-st-michel-history.htm

Moosey-Moose Goes Horseback Riding in France!

Hi Travel Buddies,

Here's another picture of Le Chateau Curzay where I stayed for 3 nights. My room was on the second floor!
And while I was there, I met Chloe and she took me horseback riding! We rode for a whole hour all around the property at the chateau.

Chloe taught me how to sit up straight and how to hold the reins so I could tell my horse which direction to go.
My horse's name was Amadeus. He was very friendly to me except he would try to eat leaves off the trees when I wasn't looking!

This is me with Chloe after our ride. I hope to visit her again one day when I go back to France. Or, maybe she can visit me if she ever travels to Seattle.

Moosey-Moose Blows Hot Air - In a Balloon That Is!

Hi Travel Buddies!

I want you to meet my new friends.

This is Pierrot and Jean-Daniel. Jean-Daniel is the Pilot of the hot air balloon that I got to fly in! This is the link to his website: http://montgolfiere.ca.free.fr/ But remember, it's all in French!

This is the crew setting up the balloon. They use a super powerful hot air pump that blasts hot air into the balloon.
This is a picture I took as soon as we lifted off the ground. In the background is Le Chateau Curzay. That's the chateau I stayed at for 3 nights! I was treated like a king.

This is me flying hundreds of miles up in the air. It was very quiet up there. I could get used to this on a daily basis.

When I finally got back to my room after sailing around the skies, my hostess had jelly candies waiting for me in my room. Yum!
Be sure to check back. Next I'll introduce to you two more friends at the chateau.
Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose Goes to France - A Visit to a Military Hospital and Museum

Hi Travel Buddies,

This is the famous The Hôtel National des Invalides. It used to be a hospital. But today it's a museum.
This is where Napoleon and other famous Frenchmen are buried.

Plus, it has other super cool information about the history of France. Here's the link to the website: http://www.invalides.org/pages/anglais/historique_a.html. Ask an adult to help you use the website because it's a little complicated but it's worth looking at.
Later I'll blog about my surprise adventure - in the sky! Can you guess what I did? Check back tomorrow to find out more.
Bye for now,
