Moosey-Moose Goes On An Adventure to Grape Juice Country!

Hi Travel Buddies,

At the last minute I planned a trip to Touchet and Walla Wall, Washington.

 

This is a map of Washington State. I traveled by car all the way from Seattle to Walla Walla.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is where I stayed. It’s a bed and breakfast called Cameo Heights Mansion. You should tell your parents about this place. I bet they would like to have a vacation. Here is the link with all the information: http://cameoheightsmansion.com/ 

 

Alan and Deanne are the owners. You can tell them I told you about their mansion.

 

 

 

This is the grand entrance. It’s grand because it’s super big! On one side is the office and on the other side is a living room with a piano and a harp and chairs and a sofa and a fancy French sofa called a chaise lounge. I only looked because I didn’t want to get anything messy.

 

 

 

 

 

After I checked-in I got to spend some time in the backyard before dinner time.

This is me on the balcony. Down below is a swimming pool with a waterfall. See all the green plants in the background? Those are apple trees. I told Kathleen those are A LOT of apples for A LOT of apple pies! YUM!

 

 

 

 

 

Finally! Dinner time. Cameo Heights Mansion has its own restaurant called The Vine. My first night I had a fish chowder. I like fish. Penny is the chef. She made this all by herself. Oh, tell your parents about the restaurant, too. Here’s the link:

I ordered a New York Steak with potatoes and corn. This was my main dish. Fancy restaurants call this the entrée. I felt super grown up!

 

 

 

 

 

 

I can’t believe I ate the whole thing! I felt like taking a nap.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But not until after I ate dessert! Tonight I had Mud Pie! That’s my kind of pie! On the bottom is a chocolate brownie and gooey chocolate sauce and caramel sauce and whippy cream (Sleepy Bear would like that part the best!) and strawberries on top.

 

 

 

 

 

 

After all that super yummy food, I was ready to go to sleep. This is my room. And, I got the whole bed to myself!

Moosey-Moose’s Last Day at the SAM

Hi Friends,

 

Here are some armor helmets worn by Romans hundreds of years ago. I would need one specially made for me to fit over my horns.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the porcelain room. I was super careful because I didn’t want to break anything. Sleepy Bear says I’m clumsy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well, time to wrap up my adventure to the Seattle Art Museum. There was a bench with a built-in pillow so I decided to take a rest.

 

 

 

 

I had a super fun time spending the morning at the Seattle Art Museum. I hope you had fun going with me! Next time I want to have lunch in the restaurant. They have yummy looking pastries and fruits and veggies, too.

Moosey-Moose and More Art at SAM

Hi Friends,

I’m glad you’re back!

This was the first exhibit I saw on the main exhibit floor. A very nice lady who works at the museum told me the artist is Korean. He made this warrior coat out of “dog tags”. But they aren’t the kind your pet doggy wears. Nope. “Dog tags” are also the metal identification tags that soldiers wear.

The artist made hundreds of them. That’s a lot of hard work.

 

 

This is a huge sculpture of a mouse standing over a sleeping man. The museum lady told me adults dream about big mice all the time. I’m glad I dream about going on adventures and not huge rodents!

 

 

 

These are masks and headdresses. The information card said they are from the 1900s. That’s over 100 years old!

 

 

 

 

 

What do you think? I think we are very similar.

 

 

 

 

 

Time for me to take a break. There is a super fun family room at the museum. It’s for kids to play and learn about art. Sleepy Bear would be proud of me for taking a break to read some art books!

Moosey-Moose Goes to the Seattle Art Museum

Hi Friends,

I had a great morning! I went to the Seattle Art Museum. Maybe you’ve heard of the SAM? Well, it’s the same place.

 

This is me all ready to go with my admission ticket. I got there early so I didn’t have to wait in line.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is the main entrance. The stairs take you to big meeting rooms. Good thing I didn’t have any meetings this morning!

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the main lobby where you get your ticket there are cars hanging from the ceiling. I don’t understand why they did that. My reading and writing teacher, Kathleen, says it’s a form of art!

 

 

 

 

 

This is me on the third floor looking down over the lobby. You can see more cars hanging upside down. Oh, the sparklies are wires that light up and flash. That part reminds me of the fourth of July!

Moosey-Moose Goes On An Adventure

Tomorrow I am going on an adventure. I’ll give you some hints.

It is someplace I have never been before.

I have been to a place like the one I’m going to tomorrow but it was in a different city.

It is a place that has lots of things hanging on the walls.

Moosey-Moose Feeds the Birds - Again

Hi Friends,

It’s hard work waiting for an agent or an editor to publish my book. So, while I’m waiting, I’M FEEDING THE BIRDS!

 

Whoo Whoo! Look at me! I’m on top of the world! Filling up bird feeders is super fun.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now I get to climb a ladder so I can fill the bird feeder that hangs from a very tall tree in my backyard. The branches almost touch the clouds. Wish me luck!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ta Da! I made it to the top. And I filled the bird feeder with seeds.

 

 

 

 

I think it’s time for me to plan my next adventure. Or, maybe I can visit another classroom and talk about writing my book and Sleepy Bear can talk about reading it!

Moosey-Moose Goes On An Adventure

FINALLY!! The day you have all been waiting for is finally here. I have finished my book!

Here is Chapter 1.

MOOSEY-MOOSE GOES ON AN ADVENTURE

Chapter 1
MOOSEY-MOOSE GOES ON AN ADVENTURE

     Moosey-Moose lived in a small yellow house on the south side of town with his adopted family. That’s what he liked to call them anyway. He thought any time a boy or girl took a toy home, they adopted it. He lived with Sarah, Joey, their parents, and Sleepy Bear. Sarah was a girly girl. She was only eight years old and loved to play with dolls and all her stuffies. Moosey-Moose liked to think he was her favorite. She always shared her snacks with him and he had a big appetite for a moose. His favorite was good ol’ raisin and peanuts (GORP for short).

     Joey, on the other hand, was a rough and tumble boy and a year younger than Sarah. He was happiest when he was playing in the dirt, building entire cities out of mud. Of course, once in a while he would sneak Sarah’s stuffies outside into the backyard and make them live in his mud cities. That always made Sarah furious! Moosey-Moose liked the adventure of living in a mud city, but too much mud is not a good thing when you have moose hair. It hurt when Sarah brushed it out!

     And then there’s Sleepy Bear. He’s another stuffy like Moosey-Moose, except he’s a little bit taller and a little bit bigger around his tummy. It must be all the hot cocoa with goo-gobs of whippy cream that he and Sarah like to drink every time they read a book together. And Sleepy Bear reads a LOT of books! That’s not a bad thing, especially when he reads them out loud to Moosey-Moose. When he’s not reading a book, he’s sleeping. He never even takes off his sleeping cap! Maybe that’s why they call him Sleepy Bear.

     Moosey-Moose was adventurous for a stuffed moose. He always carried his orange and yellow backpack everywhere he went so he would be ready for his next big adventure, whatever it might be. He kept his backpack filled with his traveling essentials – GORP, Moosey Munch bars, and an extra sweater in winter and a t-shirt in summer. One day he was in his backyard checking his backpack when his best friend, Sleepy Bear, called down from an upstairs window.

     “Hey, Moosey-Moose, you have to do your chores before the movers come!” Sleepy Bear yelled.

     “I’m going on a scavenger hunt for souvenirs to remind me of our old neighborhood. I’ll do my chores when I get back,” Moosey-Moose yelled back as he slipped his backpack onto his little shoulders.

     “But the movers are coming today at three o’clock sharp.” Sleepy Bear knew Moosey-Moose was always late.

     "You worry too much, Sleepy Bear. I’ll be home in plenty of time. You just wait and see.” Moosey-Moose squeezed between the fence slats in a shady corner of the yard.

     “Moosey-Moose, we are only moving to a house on State and Capital …”

     But before Sleepy Bear could finish, Moosey-Moose was off on his next adventure!
