Moosey-Moose Still Waits for the Birds

Good morning, Friends,

Hey, thanks Frogger from Illinois for writing. I bet you're really cold where you are!

I don't want any of you to worry about me. When I was watching the birds last week at night time, well, that was on the deck in Kathleen's backyard. She was inside watching me through the window so she knew I was safe. But, I'll watch from inside, too, so I can stay warm. I still haven't seen any birds.

I hope you have a good day at school today. I'm going to read and draw pictures.

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose

Moosey-Moose Feeds the Birds - Day and Night #3

Hi Friends,

Thanks for your comments. I'm proud of myself, too for putting the feeder back together. But I haven't seen any birds yet. Today it snowed a little bit at my house so maybe it's just too cold. I think birds go south for the winter. I guess they haven't come back to Seattle. Hopefully soon.

I will try to be patient. I like the suggestion to sit inside and watch for them out the window. That way I can stay warm! Good idea.

Moosey-Moose Feeds the Birds - Day and Night #2

Hi Friends,

I waited all day and all night for the birds to come eat their new supply of bird seed but nothing happened. Not even one measly bird came by today. Maybe it was too cold for them. I know I was cold. I sat outside for hours! Do you have any suggestions for me? Should I try again tomorrow? Should I wait until the weather is warmer? Maybe you can help me do some research on birds and their eating habits.

Hope you had a good day at school today.

Moosey-Moose Feeds the Birds

Hi Boys and Girls,

Look what I'm doing. The bird feeder on our deck got blown down from the really big wind storm we had a last month. This was the perfect project for me to fix it.

First, I had to put the pieces back together. And I had to clean everything. That was yucky! The bird seed was stuck to the sides and some of it had grown moldy. Double yuck!

Next, I borrowed one of Kathleen's measuring scoops to scoop the bird seed into the feeder. Don't worry, I asked Kathleen first if I could borrow it. She said, "Yes."

Kathleen bought some suet for the birds, too. Suet is a sticky block of bird food. Sometimes it's made out of peanuts or insects or just more bird seed. We have one with peanuts and one with insects. I hope the birds like it. Kathleen hung the bird feeder from the top of the porch and she took a picture of me. Wow! I can see forever up here!
Now I'm going to sit and watch for the birds to come and eat. I hope they like the food.
Bye for now,
Moosey-Moose.

Moosey-Moose Wants Something To Do

Hi Friends,

I'm still thinking of something to do. I like the idea of making a picture for Kathleen Does she like getting pictures?

Sleepy Bear has been busy looking at books. He's trying to decide which book to read for his book club. I wish he would hurry up and decide. Now that I know how to read, I want to read all the time! Oh, and he also wants to bake chocolate chip cookies so he is busy looking for a recipe. I just like eating cookies. They're the best right out of the oven with a cold glass of milk! Yummy! Yummy!

I'm going to find some drawing paper and my crayons.

Moosey-Moose Checks-In

Hi Boys and Girls,

Well, kids are back in school. Kathleen is back at school, too. She teaches at an elementary school. I miss having her at home like when she was home during the holidays. Now I just have the cats to keep me company. Well, and Sleepy Bear, too. But he doesn't like to do too many fun things. OK, he does like some fun things but not a lot of the fun things I like to do.

I like to climb trees in the back yard, and ride a bike, and go parasailing like the time when I was in Cabo San Lucas with Kathleen and her husband. There aren't very many outdoor activities for me during the winter months. Can you help me think of something fun to do when I have to stay indoors? What kinds of things do you like to do?

I'll wait for you to write back to me.

Your friend,

Moosey-Moose

Moosey-Moose Checks His Mail

Howdy Friends,

Happy New Year! Did you celebrate? I did. Well, Kathleen and her husband and friends went to dinner. Then they watched the fireworks at the Space Needle. I watched them from our deck at our house. They were really cool. Almost like on the fourth of July.

I'm glad you like my picture. Well, the picture of me and Sleepy Bear. Yeah, Kathleen took that picture for us. She likes taking pictures.

I miss the snow. I want to build another snow man. That was the most fun. Sleepy Bear liked making the snow angels the most. It's still cold weather so I still drink lots of hot cocoa. I love hot cocoa especially with whippy cream on top!

I finally got to read to Kathleen for her Christmas present. She was really excited and happy about how well I read. I'm proud of myself, too. Now I can't wait to read the next book in Sleepy Bear's book club. I wonder what book he will choose. Do you know?

Well, it's late so I need to go to bed. I hope you are having fun back at school.

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose
