Moosey-Moose Answers His Mail

Hi Friends,

Thanks for writing. I kinda like getting mail. Except, I was supposed to answer a math question and I lost it! Sleepy Bear says I am disorganized. I don't know what he means. He always uses big words. Do you know what it means?

Well, I've been busy today watching the robins. I didn't get to see them when they were inside their shells so I don't know what color the eggs were. I wonder how long they will stay in our yard.

Are you in Sleepy Bear's book club? I'm not. It's just for girls. Maybe he'll do one just for boys, too. Oh, did I tell you I got new bookmarks? Yeah, they came in the mail today. Let me know if you want one. You can let Kathleen know if you e-mail her. Her address is Kathleen@KathleenHunterWrites.com. Be sure to ask your parents first!

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose Has Guests in the Garden!

Hi Friends,

This is so cool! We have a family of robins living under our deck in our backyard.

This is the momma bird watching over her nest. I had to stand far away so I wouldn't scare her.

This is a picture of momma bird feeding two of her babies. Only two are showing their little bird heads. It was real tricky trying to get this picture. I had to time everything just right.
First I had to wait for momma bird to leave the nest in search of food. Then I had to wait for her to come back with a beak full of worms. As soon as she comes back, the baby birds throw their heads back and pop their beaks wide open. Momma bird shares the worms with each one.
There's a papa bird in the family that helps to guard the nest from the nearby fence. He helps find food, too. That wasn't too hard because Kathleen and her husband worked in the yard a lot digging up old plants and putting in new plants. That made the worms all come to the top of the ground.
I'll keep you posted on how they spend their day. Be sure to check back every Tuesday.
Bye for now,
Moosey-Moose

Sleepy Bears New Book Club

Hi, me again,

I forgot to tell you something.

Sleepy Bear keeps bugging me to tell you about his new book club. But wait. There's more. It's only for girls age 6-10! I guess that counts me out. He's hosting a book club with Kathleen and Sue at Mockingbird Books in Greenlake every third Wednesday of the month from 7-8pm. He says they'll have snacks, too. Hmmmm, that part sounds really cool!

Oh, one more thing. He said to bring your BABYMOUSE books to share. What's a baby mouse anyway?

Oh, read his blog on Thursdays for all the latest news about his book clubs.

OK, so now I can tell Sleepy Bear that I told you.

Bye,

Moosey-Moose

ps - boys, don't worry. Sleepy Bear will have another book club on his blog for you, too!

Moosey-Moose Works In the Garden

Hi Boys and Girls!

I bet you think I'm in the Amazon or something! What? You don't know what the Amazon is? OK, well, go look it up. You can use the computer to do research or maybe read a book about rain forests.

OK, did you find out?

Well, I'm not in the Amazon. I'm in my front yard! All the rain has made the weeds grow like crazy and it's my job to help dig them up. I don't know how I'm supposed to do that without getting my sweater all muddy. But I don't have time to go back inside to change. Oh well!

I'm ready to enter the weed patch. I have a weeder in my right hand and a shovel and a branch clipper in my left hand. The bucket behind me is were I keep all my gardening tools.

Wish me luck!

Moosey-Moose Answers His Mail

Hi Friends,

I want to try to answer everyone's questions.

Let's see, the first one is asking me about Sleepy Bear's book club. Nope. I did not read his last book. Ssshhhh. Don't tell him that. I told him I was reading The Spiderwick Chronicles. but I wasn't. I was too busy feeding birds outside.

Yes, I liked visiting the Statue of Liberty. It was really neat. And it was HUGE! And Green!. I want to visit Washington D.C. I will ask Kathleen when we are going to visit the east coast again.

I'm ready for another adventure. I like to fly so I want to go someplace where I have to ride in an airplane.

I hope it's not windy tonight. I slept better last night but tonight the weather is a little bit stormy.

Well, talk to you later.

Moosey-Moose and His Butterflies

Hi Friends,

Thanks to all of you who have helped me figure out what kind of butterflies I saw at the Seattle Center. I think maybe they were moths.

Yes, I like monarch butterflies, too. I like all butterflies. They are really cool to look at up close.

Moosey-Moose Is Grumpy

Hi Boys and Girls,

What a miserable night last night. The wind was blowing really hard and it kept me awake - ALL NIGHT LONG! I might have to take a nap this afternoon.

Moosey-Moose Studies Butterflies

Hi Friends,

Guess what? Today I finally saw a bird eating out of my bird seed feeder. Except it wasn't a little bird. It was a huge crow! I want the seeds to be for the little birds. One of my bird feeders is empty again. I hope the crows didn't eat all that seed, too.

I'm going to the store tomorrow to buy a book about butterflies. I want to know more about butterflies and moths and how to tell the difference.

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose Visits the Butterflies - Day 3

Hi Friends!

Well, I don't know what kind of butterflies these are. Some of you tell me they are moths and not butterflies. I want to know how you know the difference? They all look the same to me. And the museum called it the Butterfly Exhibit. So they must be butterflies. I'm confused now. Maybe I should do some butterfly research. Can you help me? Where should I start?

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose Visits the Butterflies - Day 2

Hi Friends!

Whoa! this is so cool!!! I got to see the butterflies eating their lunch - up close and everything.

Look at me! I could almost join them for lunch. But maybe they wouldn't like that too much. I guess I wouldn't like it if someone started eating my lunch without asking.
Oh, someone told me these are really moths. How do you know that? Why aren't they butterflies? I think I need to do some more research about butterflies.
Bye for now,
