Moosey-Moose Feeds the Birds - Again

Hi Friends,

It’s hard work waiting for an agent or an editor to publish my book. So, while I’m waiting, I’M FEEDING THE BIRDS!

High Up In The Sky

Whoo Whoo! Look at me! I’m on top of the world! Filling up bird feeders is super fun.

Climbing the Ladder

Now I get to climb a ladder so I can fill the bird feeder that hangs from a very tall tree in my backyard. The branches almost touch the clouds. Wish me luck!

Ta Da!

Ta Da! I made it to the top. And I filled the bird feeder with seeds.

I think it’s time for me to plan my next adventure. Or, maybe I can visit another classroom and talk about writing my book and Sleepy Bear can talk about reading it!

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose

Moosey-Moose Goes On An Adventure

Hi Friends,

FINALLY!! The day you have all been waiting for is finally here. I have finished my book!

Here is Chapter 1.

____________________________________________

MOOSEY-MOOSE GOES ON AN ADVENTURE

Chapter 1
MOOSEY-MOOSE GOES ON AN ADVENTURE

Moosey-Moose lived in a small yellow house on the south side of town with his adopted family. That’s what he liked to call them anyway. He thought any time a boy or girl took a toy home, they adopted it. He lived with Sarah, Joey, their parents, and Sleepy Bear. Sarah was a girly girl. She was only eight years old and loved to play with dolls and all her stuffies. Moosey-Moose liked to think he was her favorite. She always shared her snacks with him and he had a big appetite for a moose. His favorite was good ol’ raisin and peanuts (GORP for short).

Joey, on the other hand, was a rough and tumble boy and a year younger than Sarah. He was happiest when he was playing in the dirt, building entire cities out of mud. Of course, once in a while he would sneak Sarah’s stuffies outside into the backyard and make them live in his mud cities. That always made Sarah furious! Moosey-Moose liked the adventure of living in a mud city, but too much mud is not a good thing when you have moose hair. It hurt when Sarah brushed it out!

And then there’s Sleepy Bear. He’s another stuffy like Moosey-Moose, except he’s a little bit taller and a little bit bigger around his tummy. It must be all the hot cocoa with goo-gobs of whippy cream that he and Sarah like to drink every time they read a book together. And Sleepy Bear reads a LOT of books! That’s not a bad thing, especially when he reads them out loud to Moosey-Moose. When he’s not reading a book, he’s sleeping. He never even takes off his sleeping cap! Maybe that’s why they call him Sleepy Bear.

Moosey-Moose was adventurous for a stuffed moose. He always carried his orange and yellow backpack everywhere he went so he would be ready for his next big adventure, whatever it might be. He kept his backpack filled with his traveling essentials – GORP, Moosey Munch bars, and an extra sweater in winter and a t-shirt in summer. One day he was in his backyard checking his backpack when his best friend, Sleepy Bear, called down from an upstairs window.

“Hey, Moosey-Moose, you have to do your chores before the movers come!” Sleepy Bear yelled.

“I’m going on a scavenger hunt for souvenirs to remind me of our old neighborhood. I’ll do my chores when I get back,” Moosey-Moose yelled back as he slipped his backpack onto his little shoulders.

“But the movers are coming today at three o’clock sharp.” Sleepy Bear knew Moosey-Moose was always late.

"You worry too much, Sleepy Bear. I’ll be home in plenty of time. You just wait and see.” Moosey-Moose squeezed between the fence slats in a shady corner of the yard.

“Moosey-Moose, we are only moving to a house on State and Capital …”

But before Sleepy Bear could finish, Moosey-Moose was off on his next adventure!

Moosey-Moose and Sleepy Bear Go To the Beach!

Hi Friends,

It’s my last day in California. It’s Sleepy Bear’s last day, too.

That means it’s time for me to say good bye to the beach.

Moosey-Moose Goes Surfing USA

But not before I go surfing!

This is my luckiest day so far! I met a real surfer. He was taking a break from “riding the waves” and “hanging ten”. That’s surfer talk.

Moosey-Moose With Sleepy Bear - Saying Good Bye to the Beach

I didn’t get to surf too much. Sleepy Bear was telling me to hurry. We had to get to the airport in time to catch our flight back home.

I’m going to miss the sunshine, and the sand, and the ocean, and the swimming pool, and the gelato, and the …. Wait a minute. We have gelato in Seattle! Ok, maybe I won’t miss the gelato.

Moosey-Moose and Sleepy Bear

Hi Friends,

Guess who followed me to San Diego? Sleepy Bear! I had no idea. Did you know?

He said I was working so hard on my manuscript that he wanted to surprise me with a visit to California, too!

Then, he added to his surprise with gelato in La Jolla. La Jolla is on the beach and north of San Diego.

Sleepy Bear ordered two of my favoritest flavors. One is hazelnut because it has nuts in it. The other one is pistachio because it has nuts in it, too, and because it’s green!

After we shared our gelato we sat in the sunshine. It was hot, too.

This was a perfect day for me because I got to spend it with my bestest friend and AND eat gelato in the sun. Sleepy Bear is super cool!

Tomorrow we both fly home to Seattle. I’m going to miss the sunshine but I have to get home so I can send my manuscript to agents and editors. Sleepy Bear said he needs to get home to feed the birds for me.

On the Set For the Yankees Show

Hi Friends,

Yesterday was a super fun day!

Grazing Over A Salad Bowl

First, Kathleen took me to a restaurant for lunch. I grazed over a HUGE salad bowl. It had apple chips, those are on the top, and nuts, and lettuce and a whole bunch of other yummy stuff. Almost as good as a bowl full of GORP!

On the Set with Francesca - Damn Yankees

Then we went to the show. It’s about the baseball team called the Yankees. It takes place a million years ago. I think in the 1950s. Anyway, this is Kathleen’s friend, Francesca. She sings and dances in the show. I had fun watching her plus, she’s pretty.

That’s all for now. I have to take a nap. I might go to the show again tonight. Or, maybe I’ll go swimming again.

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose Catches Some Sun By the Pool

Hi Friends,

Remember I told you I was taking a vacation? Well. I’M HERE!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My reading and writing teacher, Kathleen, has a friend who lives in San Diego.

Her friend has a pool in her backyard.

I’m Kathleen’s friend so I get to use her friend’s pool.

That’s super cool for me!

Today, I plan to do more relaxing in the pool. Then I’m going to a show tonight. Kathleen’s friend is in a theater production.

Check back later and I’ll give you an update on my day.

Moosey-Moose Finished His Manuscript

Hi Friends,

Moosey-Moose Finishes His Book - July 2011

I finished my manuscript! I’m super excited!!

Kathleen said I need to write my query letters and research agents and editors. She said not everyone will want to publish a children’s book so I have to choose which ones to send my manuscript to.

I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t want to publish my book. It has adventure, excitement, I make new friends, and I even put in some sad parts. Oh, and Sleepy Bear is in it, too. But don’t tell him. I want it to be a surprise when he reads my book for the first time.

Kathleen said she is going to put the first two chapters on her website. I’ll let you know when so you can read them.

I’m going to take a little vacation to someplace sunny. It’s near the beach. Can you guess where I’m going? I leave on Thursday. When I return, back to the query letters!

Bye for now,

Moosey-Moose
